A Bit of Neglect and An Announcement!

August 14, 2013 Rachel 4 Comments

Welcome back friends! Today is the first day of school ’round these parts and that means back into routine. I’m going to do my best to be more consistent about blog posting from now on. Every day isn’t reasonable, but I think 2-3 times a week is! So there you have it: My commitment to post 2-3 times a week for the next 9 months! 🙂

I have been quite busy this past month! Lest you think I’ve been on hiatus from furniture refinishing… I have not! I just have been too busy to stage items and take some real pictures. I update my facebook page with more regularity, so that is a great place to follow along with my weekly happenins’ if you aren’t already!

First and foremost, I just want to get something out there… I have always struggled with the family-work balance and have always found when I put work before family, I’m less happy. I realized this AGAIN a month ago and decided to work when I had time, but to try to finish up my summer bucket list with the kids before it was too late! What was our summer bucket list? Well, I’ll show you an Instagram pic I took of it at the beginning of the summer:

We did ALL of that this summer, except for a handful, which I’m thinking I might still try to squeeze in while the weather is still warm.
I’ve still been busy with furniture, so here are a few snippits of some projects that some, soon, will get their own post.

In case you can’t tell, smalls (end tables, coffee tables) are my bread and butter. Sometimes it gets mundane, but it sells fast.

Yet to be finished…
Now to share what I’m REALLY excited about!

VINTAGE MARKET DAYS is coming to ST LOUIS and I HAVE A BOOTH THERE!!
I got word of this from their event coordinator several months back, and registered a couple months ago! I have never had a booth or been a part of any kind of event, so we are pretty stoked ’round here! Please come out to this awesome event if you live within reasonable driving distance!
I’ve slowly been buying things here and there for this event, but the real crack down will begin after my family’s trip to Alaska for my sister’s wedding. Here’s a sneak at some items I’ve found at auctions, garage sales, and even a friend’s farm!

This is hard to see, but it is a trailer full of furniture 🙂
I’m also converting some old cider jugs into lamps! One of these labels (too late to weigh in! :)) is going to be a decal on the side of that lamp. I also got a burlap lamp shade for it. Tutorial on all that business in the works!

So that is what I’ve been up to!
Later this week I’ll share my sketch of what I want my booth to look like!
P.S. Are there any post requests out there? I’ve had a couple for dry-brushing… but I feel like my blog should serve a purpose other than showing and telling. As much as I love showing off a new piece of painted furniture all staged so pretty, I really want to help someone out there be successful! I want to be helpful without being redundant, if that makes sense.
So… give me some suggestions if you have any! It could be something I’ve done in the past or not! I’m always up for a challenge! 😉

Wow! You have been busy. So amazing you did all on your bucket list and still had time to paint all that beautiful furniture. I feel like I struggle with balance too. I went from posting every day to 3 times a week and the link party. It is much better. Good luck with the vintage sale. It looks fabulous.

Your summer has definitely been a busy one…but those are the BEST ♥ I’m stoked about attending the Rockin’ J Ranch event. I have requested that weekend off form work so I can come and drool and even do a little shopping 🙂 ♥ I’ll look for you there.
