I sat down and did this project in less than 2 hours. I see these all the time on Pinterest, but sometimes you never know how long it will take and it can feel daunting. I really wish I had some music sheets or an old hymnal, but I wanted to quickly create some decorations for staging furniture, and alls I had was a couple of older books (I prefer the yellowing in this case).
SO. Here is what you need:
Oldish book, with 150-200 pages
Hot glue gun
20 or so glue sticks for said glue gun
Cardboard circle cut-out to look like a wreath
Ribbon (for hanging)
This one I made to be pretty symmetrical, but I love the ones that are all different shapes and sizes of rolled paper, kind of more imperfect looking, but perfectly that way, ya know? I made one just like that as a present and did it out of pages from an old hymnal, you can see it here:
But this one, like I said, a little more symmetrical, but still cool-looking (and easy!). Start with long rolled sheets of paper glued on even points around the wreath.
To make the rolled cone-ish book pages, start at one side of the long ways of the page. That was a terribly crafted sentence, but the picture helps make sense of it (like my glass of coke in the back ground? haha).
Finish like so, and add a dab of glue to that little triangle flap.
Fill in all the way around, evenly spacing (if you so choose). P.S. I tried to make the cones all facing the same direction, when I was paying attention (only about 80% of the time in retrospect). Looks prettier I think.
I’ve now added the second row of rolled paper cones, and this second layer I purposely made them a little smaller, so you could see the outer layer. Again, this one is slightly more symmetrical than you may like yours. But even if you want varying lengths and sizes, you still want the second layer to be every so slightly (in general) smaller than the outer.
Third layer in place! I ran out of pages for one book, so tried find a close match (book page yellowing) to finish it off. Which made me thing… how cool would it be to make an ombre book page wreath?!?! Darker yellowish pages on the center, and lighter and lighter yellow as you go further out! I might have to do that next week!
Glue a little ribbon for hanging on the back…
Hang.
Book page wreathes, in all their varieties are probably my favorite, inexpensive DIY decor!
Go and do it!
Love your wreath! I’ve been wanting to make one, but never got around to it!
