Botanical Prints for Spring & Free Printables

March 4, 2015 Rachel 11 Comments

Hello! Are ya’ll happy the week is half over?! I’m excited to share with you today an easy vignette as well as a free printable! I teamed up with a group of super talented design bloggers, and we are all sharing a bit of spring loveliness from our homes to yours!  (Their links are at the bottom of this post!)

I’ve been eyeing botanical prints for ages, it seems like. I’ve searched lots of places for some pretty, vintage ones, that could be framed in a group together, but I’ve found they are quite pricey. So, a couple weeks ago, I came across some herb labels, which inspired me to draw up these simple set of 4 vintage inspired hand-drawn herbs!

I think they are pretty cute and remind me that spring is just around the corner, where I can have fresh herbs growing in my garden!

I drew up are Mint, Thyme, Rosemary & Basil.

My favorite drawing happens to be Basil. Not sure white, but I’m loving those big green leaves in that silver tin bucket!

Since didn’t have 4 identical frames,  I decided to make some! These frames were made from scrap wood (2 x 1s), my Kreg Jig (using 3/4″ pocket holes and 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws), and a little Minwax Dark Walnut stain. They remind me of a raised garden bed… a little rustic, but clean lines. Best part? FREE! Only took me about 15 minutes to build all 4!

I put together this vignette while it was starting to blizzard outside and I didn’t have time to run to the store for some fresh spring-time blooms. So I used what I had: some blush roses that were starting to wilt… no matter because I think they are lovely in every stage of their life!

All my vignetting objects were thrifted. I rarely buy new to create an exact look. Which makes styling fun, because it forces me (out of necessity to stick to a budget) to think outside the norm and put things together that I wouldn’t think of usually! And this one is easily re-create-able: stacked vintage books, some candlesticks, a vase with flowers, and  a couple of plates with moss/a nest.

I love the statement a group of 4 makes, but the image is simple, and light, so it stays very ‘clean’ and neutral.

My piano-top is the first thing people see when they walk in my home, so I’m so very please that this is what is greeting them!

I’ve been slowly working on bringing snippets of spring into each of our main living areas, (barely visible on either side above), and I’m exciting for a Spring Mini Tour next week!

Love these prints! I downloaded and printed the black and white ones but every time, the “mint” one comes out crooked and slightly smaller than the others. Any suggestions? Thank you!
