Closet Makeover in the Boys’ Room

August 25, 2016 Rachel 9 Comments

This project was sponsored by The Home Depot.

Today I’m sharing a tutorial I did on a huge project I was working on last week: a Closet Makeover in the Boys’ Room. I’m so glad it is done in time for a new school year, and my boys LOVE having all the extra organized storage. If you remember from way back in January, I shared my plans for this room. It has been a work in progress ya’ll and the final reveal can be seen HERE.

Here is what it looked like before:

(another before– after I took out the wires shelves and emptied things)

And here is what it looked like now.

I built that closet organization system using 1/2″ plywood– everything including the drawers!

I mean… the drawers aren’t perfect but holy cow it totally classes up that closet. I also added these battery-powered, push LED under-cabinet lights which my boys LOVE.

This little spot on top of the drawers is perfect to put a basket of their little hygiene items. They pretty much all belong to my 10 year old who cares about his hair now and the way he smells. 🙂

I will be sharing the tutorial for how to create these 5 panel bi-fold doors soon. I’m obsessed with them and want them in every closet now.

I’m in the process of re-doing my sons’ closet as well, and those doors are exactly what I’m looking for (I am so done with sliding doors that just keep falling off!!) Can’t wait for the tutorial! You did an amazing job on this closet, lucky boys!

Did you remover the carpet underneath or place the cabinet over it?
    Thanks.
