This post is sponsored by Bona. I’ve been using Bona’s regular Hardwood Floor Cleaner for years on our Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors. It is the ONLY product I trust on our floors to clean on a regular basis that doesn’t damage the finish or cause build-up. Additionally, over the years they have been tested and recommended by both Good Housekeeping and Consumer Reports–two unbiased review companies that I trust. So, I was super excited when they asked me to try out their new PowerPlus Hardwood Floor Deep Cleaner!
I find myself extra motivated to give my home an extra good cleaning around the holidays for two reasons:
1- I move around furniture and decor to make room for the new decor, which inevitably uncovers all the dust and grime. It always feels good start with a clean slate. This is a great time to wash (with home water) curtains, slipcovers, bedding, basically anything that holds and traps allergens and germs/bacteria.
2- Family and friends visiting! I’ll add that there is something about having clean floors and surfaces… Even if there are toys or books laying around, pillows or blankets strewn on the rug, if the actual floors are clean and feel good underfoot, and if the counters are wiped, then I can rest easier. If you have hardwoods like I do, this deep cleaning method is the way to go! Bona also makes all kinds of cleaners for laminate, vinyl, and tile, so don’t forget those areas! If you have carpet, I suggest getting your carpets and rugs professionally (I promise it makes a difference) cleaned with products that reduce/eliminate allergens.
With a husband who is allergic to everything, and a daughter who has pretty severe asthma, trust me that I know what a difference a good cleaning can make to their health!
To help me with the holiday cleaning, Bona sent me a box with their Hardwood Floor Mop, plus 5 different pads:
1 Microfiber Pad, 1 Microfiber PowerPlus Deep Cleaning Pad, 1 Microfiber Dusting Pad, 1 Disposable Dusting Cloth (quick dusting), and 1 Hardwood Floor Wet Cleaning Pad (pre-moistened with their original hardwood cleaner).
Our entry way gets hit the hardest with dirt and mud tracking in from outside. Even with daily sweeping and mopping every couple weeks, this area gets the most build-up of dirt. I started with the Microfiber Dust Pad to sweep up all the small bits that settle in the grooves of the planks, and the broom misses.
I was curious to see if the Bona PowerPlus Hardwood Floor Deep Cleaner was much different than the original cleaner I use of theirs, and I was surprised to find that it really is an improvement! The smell is more citrus-y for one, which I enjoy. I wish all their cleaners smelled this good!
Also, I noticed some areas that had a couple bits of small dried candy (thank you Halloween) seemed to dissolve and were easily removed with the PowerPlus Deep Cleaning Pad. Apparently, this cleaner has 3x the cleaning action!
1- Surfactant loosens tough, heavy build up
2-Oxygenated formula penetrates for a deep clean
3- Bubbling action enhances and lifts away debris
One key featureI loved of the deep cleaning pad is that is has 2 rows of green extra scrubby material (called PowerLoop technology) to really get a good clean on areas that need it.
They recommended rinsing the pad regularly to reduce streaks after lots of cleaning. I just wrung it out and kept on cleaning!
I love that all of their microfiber cleaning pads can just be thrown in the washing machine for re-use. This reduces waste, is nicer on my wallet, and is healthier because it kills any bacteria and allergens with the hot-water cycle.
Our floors seriously have not been cleaner since we moved in! And with the GreenGuard Certification, I know that besides not leaving any residue, it is completely safe and healthy for my family.
So what do you do when your floors are freshly cleaned?

You put some holiday music on (preferably Sia’s new song, Santa’s Coming for Us), put on clean socks and slide around like a dork!
🙂
Happy cleaning!
Good to know! By the way, what brand is your sink? I really love it and I am buying a new sink after the holidays.
It’s from Ikea! Super affordable.
You.are.too.cute! And I do use their products too!
Haha I just LOVE you!
