Today I’m please to share with you a hack that had me high five-ing myself haha! DIY Gold Dipped Flatware– a perfect addition to a place setting at any time of the year.
Have you guys noticed how popular gold flatware is the past couple years? I never really noticed it before that, but since then I have seen it pop up in pretty much every major retailer of home goods. And with it a hefty price tag! I snagged some vintage gold flatware at a thrift store last year, but I was wanting another set that was simpler in design and was a little more true gold. So, I came up with these DIY Gold Dipped Flatware that are DISHWASHER SAFE! 🙂
You could use any time of stainless steel flatware, but I got the cheapest stuff available at Ikea– it was like $6 for a 4 place setting. Add liquid gold leaf and the Mod Podge dishwasher safe sealer, and pretty much you can get a 4 place setting for under $20.
I ended up also gold-leafing some brass napkin rings I had… just to coordinate with my new gold flatware. 🙂
The runner is also from Ikea and was only a few bucks. The combo of navy, teal, pink, and gold is such a pretty combo for spring!
I was really impressed with how smooth the finish turned out, so I’ll definitely be doing more to make a complete 6 or 8 piece set.
So what do you think ? Is it something you might attempt?

Where did you get the liquid gold leaf?
I found it at Michael’s.
Could you do the same concept on wine glasses?
HI Sarah! Absolutely you could!
Love how they look! I didn’t know modge podge made a dishwasher safe product, that’s awesome.
Can you dip the entire utensil in this? Is it dafe to eat with?
I would not dip the entire utensil in it as it would wear off a lot quicker and you would end up eating bits of the paint/finish.
