I found a couple of great pieces of furniture this past week at a thrift store. Among them was this cute chair! Solidly built and not wobbly! Two wins!
I decided to do my version of the painting technique Miss Mustard Seed did on a french chair makeover.
I used 2 coats of Provence, then dry brushed the entire thing with a 4:1 Old White with French Linen mix, then dark waxed the entire thing, then used 60 grit sandpaper to expose some of the wood.
(Please forgive the graininess of the pictures! My iphone doesn’t do this piece justice, and I’m kicking myself I don’t have my camera fixed yet!)

The upholstery fabric I found at Joanns in their home decorator collection and it reminded me of a grain sack, but with light aqua stripes… the perfect match for this chair!
It has amazing texture and a genuine french antique look to it. I’m itching to try it again on a pair of curvy french chairs… if only I could find some!
Wow!!! I love how this chair turned out! So cute!

Love this color! Thanks for the how-to! I have a mahogany buffet that I wanted to do in something other than plain old white. This would be perfect!
Thanks for sharing your tips! 🙂
Just a thought but one thing I don’t like about AS dark wax is that it is brown and I want a grey…i see on your picture you mixed to get it…
Oh my goodness! That is just gorgeous!
