I have a fun tutorial for y’all today! I’m showing how to reupholster an office chair — you know the ones you see all the time at the thrift store that are dirty and nasty! A couple weeks ago I was at my favorite thrift store (I’m there several times a week), but this time on the hunt for an office chair. We have had a wooden chair at our desk for awhile now, and it was high time that spot got an upgrade. I wanted something that was classy and sturdy– holding up to 3 kids is no joke!
There were several plastic base office chairs, the kind you see all the time, but when I saw this chrome base one with tufting, I was immediately drawn to it. The best part? Only $2.50!
I picked up some fantastic Nate Berkus for Joann’s Fabric called Indre Lynwood Navy that was on sale for 50% off, making it less than $10 a yard. I also picked up a button cover kit which came with the buttons I would need for tufting! All in all I spent less than $50 and I got a chair that looks like ones I’ve seen for over $100 on Overstock or Houzz.
I also took the opportunity to change out my gallery wall above the desk, and re-style the desk.
Ready for the tutorial? I’m over at eHow today, showing every step HERE!
