It’s Makeover Monday ya’ll! THE Monday before the St Louis Vintage Market Days Spring show! eeeeep! So, naturally, to distract myself, I’m going to look at this pretty yellow dresser and dream of warm days ahead with afternoon picnics (my inspiration).
English Yellow is BRIGHT by itself, so I toned it down with a 1:1 ratio with Old White.
The drawers are lined with this fun greek-inspired blue and white fabric. Thank goodness for Lu (my father-in-law’s wife)! She lined the drawers of 5 different dressers with various fabric… a task that did not appeal to me AT ALL.

The top was sanded down and stained with General Finishes Gel Stain in Java. But, unlike a lot of people that use Java Gel Stain, I didn’t want to cover up the grain. I wanted to use it as an actual stain/varnish combo instead, so I brushed it on and wiped it off. 1 step. Really simple and great results!

And here she is!
I’m SO glad I finally was able to find some use with English Yellow. By itself, I think works best with modern/retro furniture. But toned down with Old White, it really is a lovely, sunny pop of color, don’t you think?
Gorgeous! Such a happy piece. x
Oh how pretty! I love that soft shade of yellow and the wood top sets it off nicely! Cute hardware too!
Love the makeover. Looks great with the blue knobs.
