If there is one thing I regret, it is that I don’t have before shots of most of our projects. Prior to us acquiring these little beauties, we had refinished our dining set (TWICE), a sofa console, a shoe rack, 2 end tables, and our bed frame! So we felt a little comfortable with our abilities, and found this night stand and two end tables for a good deal at an estate sale. We painted all 3 with Annie Sloan Old White (still my multi-purpose favorite!) and clear waxed them with Minwax Paste Wax.
This night stand was ever so slightly distressed… barely any and it sold fast! A dad wanted it for his daughter’s room! 🙂
Then we tackled these two end tables with granite inlay. They were the first antique pieces we refinished and I loved them (still do)! There is character there that is hard to come by in newer furniture! Plus those drawer pulls are gorgeous!
I should also mention that I did put a little Annie Sloan dark wax to highlight the grooves… we did not distress these two at all. We wanted it to look a little regal.. 🙂
We first started taking pictures outside because we loved the natural light. I must also give credit to Bruno for convincing me originally to “stage” them or put of few decorative items on top… now I pay attention to those details on professional decor websites and have gotten a little better (still lots of room for improvement!) These two sold within a week!
Beautiful update to not Antique but Vintage late ’60’s or early’70’s traditional end tables!
I know they are not true antiques, I tend to throw that term around loosely… sort of as a synonym with vintage. I likely wouldn’t be painting anything that was a TRUE antique. And additionally, the definition for that term is highly debated. 😉
