This post is sponsored by RugsUSA. They provided me the new rug in exchange for this post.
My master bedroom has been ever-changing lately, but I have recently made some updates that were worth documenting. So today, I’m sharing the room with a hint of fall decorating and my favorite addition: a new rug!
To see all the changes since my original design plans 2 years ago, go HERE.
The new rug I got from RugsUSA is the Bosphorus BD-07 Distressed Persian Rug in Blue. It really was the inspiration for my fall decorating. I used the deep dusty blues, golden yellows, and some grays which is a very neutral approach to fall decorating, but one that I have been digging lately.
I had originally thought about going with a little more contemporary patterned rug, but I took hints from the vintage headboard and vintage night stand, and opted for a traditional rug. This one has all the colors I love and is versatile with the various seasons.
Isn’t it so pretty? It’s one of the few rugs I own that isn’t wool, but for the style, thickness of the pile, and the pattern, I really don’t miss the wool too much. This particular rug has a TON of positive reviews, so that was also a selling point for me.
Once I got the rug, I wanted to find some sconce lights that were neutral enough to work with lots of color palettes, but also visually striking without stealing the show from the headboard (the focal point of the room). These round glass sconce lights I found at World Market.
For the bedding I flipped over my pin-tucked white duvet so the smooth side was up, added some light gray sheets (HomeGoods) and a blue fleece blanket (Target) at the foot.
The yellow striped pillows were clearance at Target and the deep blue lumbar that was a dead match with the fleece blanket I found at HomeGoods.
This tray is one I made at Haven a couple years ago and lined with marble tile (so fancy, right? haha). Fall makes me want to stay in bed for as long as possible and since school has started I have found myself staying in my room with pjs on most of the morning, editing pics, catching up on emails and social media… and I usually end up eating breakfast here. Most of the time my go-to is a poached egg and avocado smeared toast, but these almond and chocolate dipped cookies from Trader Joe’s looked delicious so I couldn’t resist. Served alongside some vanilla herb tea, and it is a perfect little afternoon indulgence.
Instead of flowers to our bedside tables, I put some preserved fall leaves in a couple of vases. I love the pop of color they add.
So that’s about it for our master bedroom! It’s not a big room but these recent updates have made me feel like, ‘yes. it is finally finished.’ I don’t imagine we will be doing much to this room besides switching out basic decor for the seasons. The major things have all been done and I’m ready to check this off the list. 🙂

What do you think of the updates?

#LOVETHERUG it just completes the entire room. It’s like the frosting on the cake! Lucky you to score such a beautiful rug. And I especially admire the wood headboard. Hard to find. Thank you for sharing your post.
That rug is seriously nice! Love, love, love!
The rug is gorgeous! I think the sconces look great too. I’m trying to decide what to do with my bedding to change it for another season. Not sure why it’s so difficult right now, I normally don’t have a problem choosing bedding.
Enjoy your “new” room/retreat!

I love your new rug! I’m putting it on my wishlist.
I love the entire room! Thanks for sharing sources☺️
Question for you… this looks like a king size but the bed itself can’t be- how did you make it bigger? Love it!
It is a queen! It was a full because it is vintage, but I cut off the posts on the footboard and attached them to either side of the headboard (using pocket hole screws from the back) so it extended the headboard length an extra 6 inches, making it a queen size!
Where did you find the Jack Johnson lyrics poster? It’s lovely!
