Fun announcement for something exciting coming tomorrow– A Home Depot Virtual Party!! I am a bit late sharing this, but I figured better late than never!
One of my favorite bloggers, builders, DIYers EVER— THE Jen Woodhouse is hosting a virtual party tomorrow where myself and 3 other bloggers join her in creating our own version of this wooden door mat!
The basic wooden door mat is going to be the project created at YOUR local Home Depot this coming Saturday, 3/26 starting at 10am. More details on that at the bottom. 🙂
This is the second time I’ve joined Jen in a virtual party… if you remember I made a woodland wreath trio last year before Christmas and it was a blast so I jumped at the chance to join her again!
Here are the participants:
Rachel, Shades of Blue Interiors
One of the reasons I LOVE Home Depot is because they encourage EVERYONE to jump on the DIY bandwagon… which I’m obviously a huge fan of. I love that they are helping to break down stigmas that you have to have tools or be handy to do some DIY– all while having fun in their Workshops.
The Home Depot offers Workshops at all of their locations for do-it-yourselfers of all ages and all experience levels…. so that means your grandma and your 3 year old too! 😉 They offer 3 types of Workshops: Do-It-Yourself (DIY), Do-It-Herself, and Kids! Aaaaaand customers can learn how to build home decor projects, how to make easy home repairs, and how to operate tools through demonstrations and step-by-step instructions. Ever been afraid of a power tool and so put off that fun DIY project that you saw on Pinterest? FEAR NO MORE! 🙂 Home Depot has got ya covered.
So, like I mentioned above, they have a workshop to make the basic wooden doormat at your local Home Depot this Saturday and here are the details:
- The Home Depot #DIYWorkshop
Saturday, March 26, 2016
10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m

I already made my unique take on this mat for tomorrow’s virtual party, but I’m thinking I need a couple more of these for the back door and for our garage! So I just might register too so I can join in on your fun! 🙂 Make sure to share on social media if you make one and use the hashtag #DIYWorkshop <– that is also the way you can check out everyone else who is participating in all the virtual parties for this wooden door mat!
So, here’s the story. I’ve been researching and researching and I came up with something I love. I was torn between painting the wood to add some color, or to keep it natural, OR to do a traditional rectangular in shape or to step out of the box and do something funky…. What do you think I did? Comment and tell me, wood/painted and for the shape rectangle/ funky? Come back tomorrow and you will see (and you get 50 bonus points if you guessed right ;))!
So fun, Rachel. I love the Home Depot too. xx
