It’s Monday and I’m excited to share with you a restoration hardware inspired end table transformation I did! I’m easing back into furniture makeovers. I’ve been feeling so unmotivated with painting furniture lately, but I still have several pieces just waiting their turn. I was perusing a thrift store a couple weeks ago and came across a cute end table that was it perfect condition. My favorite type of find. I originally intended on selling it, but after I finished it, I couldn’t resist and it fits so perfectly between our two living room sofas. So it’s staying with us. 🙂 This was also the piece that motivated me enough to get going with my video tutorials again! I already did one on dry brushing last week, and the next one, on how to use dark wax is here!
This is how she started out:
After painting 2 coats of French Linen, dry brushing with a mix of French Linen and Pure White, lightly distressing and dark waxing, the finish is perfection.
This is my go-to technique for a Restoration Hardware inspired finish. It is neutral gray, but with interesting texture: an authentic time-worn look.
Found this cute white bust at the thrift store as well… only $3!
So, what do you think? Would you sell it or keep it?
I’ve been missing your makeovers! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with the world… this piece is timeless.

I LOVE how this came out, Rachel! x
Definitely keep that one!
I love this piece!!! OMG! It is gorgeous. I have not had good experiences with refinishing furniture. However, there is a slight possibility I could be inspired by this piece. Simply gorgeous! Great job!
Hi,
This piece looks great could you provide a step by step process on how you achieved this look. Thx

Brigitte, If you look at the top, right before the first picture, I gave links to 2 videos I made on achieving this look, which includes a video on how to dry brush, and a video on how to dark wax.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! Just gorgeous! I’ve been looking for a paint finish for my china cabinet and dining table and chairs that are in disparate need of an update. This finish is just what I had in mind. If it were you, would you do both pieces in the same finish or maybe do the china cabinet in this finish and the table/chairs in antique white?

I LOVE the idea of painting the furniture in 2 different colors/tones because then it looks like a collected look, rather than matchy-matchy. So yes to the cabinet in this finish, and table/chairs in antique white!
