In a shared bedroom, keeping things neat and tidy can be a challenge. Today I’m sharing the coordinated zip-up bedding you need that will make everyone’s life easier! Plus I’m sharing some color and pattern combos for bedding sets for bunk beds or shared bedroom, so no matter your style, you can choose bedding that coordinates without being matchy-matchy.
When I was planning the room makeovers last fall for the family who adopted 3 siblings, I knew immediately I wanted to partner with Beddy’s Bedding. Why, you may ask? Besides the cute, coordinated bedding patterns that work well together, I knew this was the only way the kids themselves could easily keep their beds neat without any help. When you have 6 kids under 12, like this family, you need everyone pitching in and learning independence and responsibility. Making your bed is a great way to start that!
The people from Beddy’s also have huge hearts and did not hesitate to get on board with this project for this deserving family. Older adopted children often don’t come with much, by way of physical possessions, so I love that we were able to gift them their very own bedding set in colors they love, that will last them for years to come.

We considered buying a triple bunk bed but ultimately decided to do a bunk bed with a trundle because they plan on adding on a room in their home in a year or so, and moving one of the boys out of this room.

Let’s first talk practicality, because things that look nice don’t last if they aren’t practical and functional. I’ve talked about this before when we got Beddy’s Bedding for my boys’ bunk bed last year, but I there doesn’t exist better bedding for bunk beds. You simply put it on the mattress just like a fitted sheet, and the top blanket portion zips along the top sides of the mattress, making getting in and out easy.

They are very durable and are easy to remove and wash regularly. The top blanket part zips all the way around so you can remove it completely if you just wanted to wash the blanket portion. The zipper is bigger and has a big tab so it zips easier and gets caught less. We have got the zipper caught a couple times and because it’s so big it was easy to fix.

They are also quite warm! The bedding has soft minky material under the top blanket part, so that extra layer ads warms without bulk. In the cooler months, I like having an additional comforter in a coordinating pattern from Beddy’s at the foot of the bed to layer on or to pull off when cuddling up in another room. The comforter also has the minky lining for softness and warmth.

As you can see above, this bedding is ideal for snug spaces like a trundle bed, and it’s so easy to make, the 3 year old that sleeps in the trundle bed can make it himself! He sleeps with a weighted blanket (the gray chevron blanket pictured) that fits in perfectly between the fitted sheet part of the bedding and the top blanket part. Each bedding set includes a pillow case in the same fabric as the bottom fitted sheet part, and a sham that matches the fabric of the top blanket part.
When it comes to aesthetics, I love the vibrant, classic patterns, that coordinate so well together. Just because you have a bunk bed doesn’t mean you have to get matchy-matchy everything! I chose Game On (the navy stripe), Nautical Navy, and Dash (in the trundle bed). They also have solid colors or more subtle patterns that will suit any style or taste.

Pictured above, are some bedding sets that I put together on a collage so you can easily see what color combos work well together. Anything two or three sets from these collages would work well together. This first collage is the more neutral combos– I imagine pairing them with classic and nature-inspired pillow and comforter colors.
The bedding sets below are more vibrant– I imagine pairing them with bright colors with bold themes:

And do you see that “Smash!” throw pillow on the bottom bunk? It’s also from Beddy’s! They have several throw pillows that work well with their bedding sets (including a couple sports theme ones), and a 3 different pillows in the Super Hero theme!

Something they have recently started offering is AfterPay, which allows you to make interest-free monthly payments, if that works better for your budget!
Additionally, Beddy’s Bedding has a 30 day money-back guarantee, and wonderful support and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
To make it even better, they are offering my readers 20% off when you use the code “SHADESOFBLUE”!
