The Christmas portion of the Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series is back!!
I’m so excited because I had so much fun with the fall portion, and it made it so much more enjoyable decorating 1 or 2 spaces each week instead of all at once for the typical home tour. Christmas season is officially upon us and this week we are sharing our bedroom! I chose a rustic Christmas theme in my master bedroom this year because I wanted to try a something that was a little different than last year— which was more traditional with pops of red. You can’t beat the warmth and festivity of a tree in your room, but unfortunately I don’t own an artificial tree and real trees aren’t available yet. So I made it work with little table-top trees and garlands.
I love how the mix of blues, browns, and greens, with cozy knit and flannel textures give the room a cabin feel. It reminds me of the heavy snow-laden winters, growing up in Alaska. I was born and raised in Juneau, and while I was eager to finally leave when I graduated high school, I have found I still have so many fond memories among those long winters.
I remember after a cold, dry snowfall where the flakes were wispy and delicate, the sound of the squeaky crunching snow as you trudge out to get the mail. It was never the intent to stay long outside, because it was so cold that it tickled your nose when you breathed. But then you would look up and see the clear blackish-blue sky and the twinkling stars, and you couldn’t help but linger a bit and try to grab some snow to make a snowball. It was a fruitless attempt of course, because it was too dry to form any shape, but it would succeed at burning your fingers as it melted, just before you uncurled your fingers and let the remaining dry flakes fall to the ground. You would try to take a deep breath to smell that fresh, clean air that is so delicious after every snowfall, and would catch a hint of that sweet spruce tree aroma that is barely noticeable unless you pay attention. Those were some of the moments that I miss the most. 🙂
I was excited to get this beautiful wool knit throw from Birch Lane but I was not expecting how heavy and soft it is! I feel like it weighs 10 pounds! It definitely is luxury I wasn’t used to haha!
I think vintage folk art on pillows and decor is coming back in full force this Christmas season. It all has a very Scandinavian feel, and I absolutely love it. That is why I knew I had to have this darling reindeer fair isle lumbar pillow layered in front of navy linen pillow covers and ruffled gray shams.
My bedside tables are different heights, so I balanced it out with a different height trees on either side, so it looks a little more even since they end up being about the same visual height.
When I was at the store with my 7 year-old, Alex, he was not interested in any of the Christmas decor like I was, but then he spied this sweet Santa globe and insisted we needed it. 🙂
I was missing having a tree in this corner, but until we get one, I decided the desk could be a great gift wrapping station, and hung some bells and a spruce garland above my DIY word art.
This garland was made using just a couple bunches of faux spruce at Michaels, and some ribbon I found there that was a perfect match to the pillows on my bed.
Besides wrapping gifts, my bedroom is my favorite place to curl up and flip through magazines or peruse online for gifts. So I set up my little bed tray with peppermint hot cocoa and things that I would munch on (hello Boom Chicka Pop Kettle Corn) while I shop.
Our sliding barn door to our bathroom got a little festive glow as well, with a faux blue spruce wreath. The ‘laundry basket’ actually serves to hold extra blankets and fur pillows on those extra cold nights or when I want to switch up the look of things.
I didn’t want to ignore our dresser that the tv sits on, so I placed a couple of turned candleholders on either side and some gold gilded deers from last year I got at a thrift store.
And that is our rustic Christmas master bedroom ! I hope you enjoyed the tour around this cozy room of ours and be sure to visit all the other bedrooms in the blog hop below!

Luvly post. I enjoyed reading your description of ‘dry snow’. I spent some my childhood in the tropics, in Belize actually, where Christmas was hot and humid. Then we moved to NYC. What a difference….. now, I am in Florida ?, different yet again. All luvly in their own right.
Happy new month.
Cheers, Gee
Could you please let me know where the gray plaid sheets are from? I have been looking for some just like those. Thanks.
Please disregard my earlier comment as I had a typo in my blog address as well.
I found them at TJ maxx! They are by Cynthia rowley!
Very sweet and cozy and inspirational! Happy November 1st!
Your bedroom is the bomb! Love your use of blue & white and I’m so glad you love that headboard – it’s perfect in your room.
I love your style so much! So glad you’re not afraid of color in your décor (I’m tired of always seeing white, white, white in all the other blogs). Great job!
Hi love everything about this. Where did you get your headboard?
I have to know how I can get a headboard like yours!!!
Beautiful and cozy! Christmas at its best! I love that you added a wrapping station — the chair and pillow make me want to come wrap up some secrets… I better start working on that.
So rustic and cozy… and I love the idea of snacks on the bed while you Christmas shop. 🙂
Where is your better together sign from? Love it!!!
I actually said in the description right next to the picture that it was a DIY and I linked to the tutorial. 🙂
