Today I’m sharing free build plans for a rustic modern bathroom vanity. This vanity is a simple design with clean lines and shaker-style drawer fronts. It is designed to have a countertop added, so it is not included into the overall height. The dimensions for this vanity are 49″ long x 32″ tall x 21″ deep (including full overlay drawer faces).
You guys! It has taken me forever to get these plans finished, but I did it! I started last fall, shortly after I finished my sister’s Alaskan Bathroom Makeover, and got most of it done in Sketch-Up. However, shortly after I found out I was pregnant, I became too ill to finish and since then haven’t had the time/energy to finish… until recently!
My inspiration for this vanity was a beautiful one I saw online and shared in my design plans post here.
I used solid oak for the plywood and boards, because lumber in Juneau, AK isn’t cheap and the price difference between pine (usually the cheapest option in the lower 48) and oak was very small. Plus oak looks so pretty when stained, so we splurged a bit. However, if you want to paint the vanity, I would recommend using poplar (hardwood) or pine.
We granite counters provide an added layer of visual texture and remind me of rustic glacial striations, however if a more modern look is in your plan, then I would recommend white quartz.
I partnered with Delta Faucet for the bathroom makeover, and chose the wall-mounted matte black sink faucet, so we extended the granite up the wall for a partial backsplash.
I was able to find all matching matte black drawer and door hardware, towel holder, and toilet holder on Amazon, which I will link at the bottom of this post.
After I installed the vanity I realized I didn’t allow enough clearance for the door trim so I had to cut down the drawer face a little bit, so they wouldn’t hit. So, if you are installing your vanity close to a door jamb, make sure you have a spacer between the wall and the vanity so you don’t run into the same problem I did!

Love the way your vanity turned out. We are in planning a bathroom remodel for our Northen Minnesota home. Your vanity is exactly what I have been looking for. I found your vanity plans on line. My husband wants to know if the measurements on the cut list are “actual or nominal” measurements. Thanks for posting the plans, I hope our turns out as nice looking as yours.
The cut list measurements are actual but the board descriptions are nominal. So if a 1×3 board needs to be cut to 12.25″ (random example) then the actual cut length needs to be 12.25 inches but the 1×3 is standard nominal– actual dimensions of a 1×3 is 3/4″ x 2 1/2″.
Very nice vanity! It looks like there’s a little blue in the color. Is that true? If so, how did you do that?
How hard would this be to convert to a 58″ vanity? Love the look of this, we are having such a hard time finding a 58″ vanity for our space
Hi, what is the name and source or the marble vanity top?
