Today I want to share with you some refreshes I’ve made to my bedroom for spring! A couple weeks ago I shared the rest of my house decorated for Spring, but I’ve been holding off on sharing my bedroom because I seriously could not decide on a combination of pillows. Is that ridiculous or what?! haha! I kept thinking I wanted to go with a lot more color and even bought several different pillows and combinations of colors… but ended up returning them all. Sometimes you gotta just stick to what feels most natural: blue and white. 😉
If you never heard the story of the Eastlake headboard and how I refinished it, then head over and read about it HERE. You can get a closer look at the desk I built in the corner HERE, and the DIY Word Art HERE.
The blue and white tie-dye lumbar pillow I got at HomeGoods and everything sorta worked itself out from there. The other two pillows behind it are ones I sewed last year with fabric from Joann.
Right before the photoshoot in February, my ‘to-do’ list included adding a fresh coat of white paint (BM Simple White) to the shiplap wall (since it had been a couple years and I hadn’t properly primed the plywood, some of the yellows were bleeding through). I also built this nightstand to mimic the one that was there before, but made it just a bit narrower to fit the space better.
When I went antique shopping with Jessica, the stylist for the shoot, we bought this lace coverlet, thinking we would use it, but ended up not! I got to keep this and I love the pretty texture it adds to my white bedding.
I also installed new DIY bi-fold craftsman style closet doors to replace the sliding mirror ones that were there before.
The last thing I changed in here is the rug. I actually LOVED the one I had in here before so much, but the size wasn’t right. It took me awhile to realize this, and even though I think it didn’t look bad before, it is MUCH better now, don’t you think? The rug is the Safavieh Evoke in Blue/Ivory and is the 8×10 size. The white balance is a little off in the pic from last fall, but you get the idea of size difference.
Previously I had the 6’7″x9′ and the new size is the 8×10. Now I have nearly 3 feet of rug on either side of the bed and at the foot, and it goes all the way under the feet of the nightstand. You can see the beautiful colors so much better now!
RugsUSA partnered with me again on this rug and they generously offered to provide my readers with a chance to win $200 towards a rug of their choice! To enter, just comment below and make sure to put your info in the Rafflecopter box! I will be picking a winner next Wednesday! *Giveaway Closed*

I love the improvements you made! And that headboard is bold for my taste, but I really dig it. It works. Also, I’m so pleased to have so much blue & white inspiration thanks to you! It’s my favorite color combo as well—actually, now that I think about it, practically every room in my house has it! Whoops! I’ve been thinking about getting a new runner for the entry because the current one is brown and beige—so NOT my favorite colors!
That rug is exactly what I am looking for ? Love it so much!! And you are right…the size does look much better!

Beautiful rug and a lovely room to boot!! Could use one in our bedroom…then again a runner or two for the hallways…then there’s the family room – oh my, way too many choices!!!
Everything looks fresh and ready for spring and summer! Yeah you! That rug is perfect! I could use a rug in my bedroom!
I love everything about your room. I’m inspired by your furniture making (Shop was my favorite class in middle school! I’m dating myself I know because that class fell off the curriculum in the early 80s budget cuts… but I own the toolbox in our house, and my husband is my assistant!) I REALLY love the new rug, especially with the pop of gold. We’re transitioning our colors in our house and I have a lot of nice accents with gold in them that I don’t want to get rid of. This rug is perfect to tie them all together.
Our living room could use a new rug!

This blue and white combination is perfection and the rug ties it all together. Looks amazing!
My living room desperately needs a new rug. Yours is beautiful.
I would like new rug in my living room. The one we have has done its job.
Our playroom! Hands down! Our old one is bringing down the whole room, it came with the house. We have a remodeled 115 year old home and the wood in the center of the room was originally made with lesser quality and the wood border around it was made of a higher quality. Therefore the need for a rug and it takes a good 9×11 to fully cover…and we all know that doesn’t come cheap! 🙂 I’ve painted and done everything else I can to cute it up in there but the rug feels too formal for a playroom and I can’t invest in curtainsome because everything I like clashes with the darn rug. Not the worst problem on Earth, no…but annoying! ? Thanks for the opportunity!
Love the rug, I’ve been looking for one for the past 2 weeks and it’s perfect for our family room!
Our family room could need a new rug. Thanks for the giveaway!

Our master is bare with hardwoods!
Your room looks beautiful and I love the bigger rug. I would love a new rug for our bedroom as well.
My loft/office area needs a new rug! I’m finally decorating and want something to brighten it up and match the rest of my decor.

My dining room could use a new rug. I really, really love the rug you pocked for your bedroom.
My bedroom really could use some color. A rug would be perfect!!
Our dining room has a beautiful table set, but the 100 year old floors have really taken a beating! I’d love a rug!
Any/all of our rooms would benefit from a rug, but our most frequently used room is the living room and I think a rug would brighten it up immensely!!
My dining room desperately needs a new rug! I’m thinking a fun splash of color!
